Once again, my kids have turned me on to another great infomercial product. The Big Top Cupcake is the cutest and funniest thing ever! I was just laughing when I saw the infomercial and called right then to order it (the price is really good — $19.95). I’ve baked before using the silicone molds so I felt fairly confident that baking with the big cupcake mold would be really easy and with minimal mess. I was right and my 3 kids got such a kick out of our giant cupcake (which we decorated as a ladybug!)
I’ve always been really into making each of my kids really festive birthday parties and I always want to make birthday cakes from scratch and with some kind of cute theme. The problems I always run into is finding a mold that my kids like and getting the cake to bake well and come out of the pan nice and neat! Usually my cakes have been a wreck coming out of those cheap aluminum cake molds and more than once I have had to redo the cake. Some years I’ve actually bought birthday cakes from the bakery, but they were so expensive and so much bigger than we needed that a third of it would end up in the garbage or sit in my freezer for 6 months. A total waste!
I’m totally into my Big Top Cupcake right now and my kids like baking with it to. We’ve been experimenting with different flavor cakes and different kinds of fillings (we like chocolate and vanilla cake with a mocha filling best). It’s overall really simple and your guests will think you are a master baker! Another really cool part is the free 3-D cookie cutters you get with your order. I had never seen anything like it and truthfully, I didn’t expect the cookies to really work, but they actually do! The animal cookies really stand up. I think for my son’s next birthday we will do a circus theme and use both the cake mold and the 3-D cookie cutters. It’s going to be soooooo cute!
Simple Process as Well

I made such a cute Big Top Cupcake this weekend for my niece’s 5th birthday. She really wanted a princess theme cake and my sister-in-law cannot bake to save her life, so I volunteered. I remembered when I was a little girl that there were these Barbie doll cake toppers that you could decorate with icing to make her a big poufy skirt. I remember it being a party activity where each girl designed their own edible Barbie dress. So, I just spun that idea and used the cupcake mold to create the dress (all pink and purple with edible candy pearls) and stuck a really Barbie Princess into the cake. It was so cute and super easy. My niece was so happy!
